Rubbish Dump Project

Volunteers distributing food

This is how they live 24 hours a day

They need our help now

Bogie & Bacall – where it began

The charity rubbish dump project at the Stung Mean Chey on the outskirts of Phnom Penh city was founded about 4 years ago by the owners of Bogie & Bacall Bar Phnom Penh. Initially, we hired a taxi and took loaves of bread to the dump, all paid out of our own pocket. Later, 2 more dedicated people joined the program by offering some money and help whenever they could afford it. Gradually others got interested and came to help us, as and when they could.
The project charity will remain entirely 100% volunteer, with 100% of the donations being spent directly for the children.

Stung Mean Chey

Nothing is spent on transport or other logistics, as these are met by the volunteers with their own money and generously give their time and effort for this project. Now we have a volunteer Para Medic who comes with us on each trip to tend to minor wounds to feet and legs etc. If we discover any child in severe pain, we arrange a trip to a hospital free of any charge, as the costs are met by the volunteers themselves, other western owned bars & businesses and the U.S. Embassy.

"100% Transparency,
100% Donations to children,
100% Volunteers.”

We do not seek publicity through this project, all the businesses donate knowing well, what they receive in return is going to be a thank you letter, photos and documentation of what their money has contributed to the project. All our members are 100% volunteers, every cent that is collect for these children, is spent on the children. That is our promise! The volunteers pay for the transport out of their pockets, their time is given very generously. A balance sheet is available at bogies for inspection by anyone at anytime! We are happy to send you this information by e mail with an up date on trips and projects. We welcome anyone who wants to be part of the project and wants to donate, or come along with us to the dump.
You can buy the food on the way and help distribute to the children. We feed three children for a$1.00.

MERCY PROJECTS

LITTLE BOY
(Multiple Broken Leg)

We found this little boy with his Mother at the dump.He had multiple breaks in his right lower leg below the knee. He is 4 years old and had to be carried everywhere by his mother. These breaks were due to a draconian delivery of a breech birth, pulling and twisting! We have had corrective surgery done and now he is having minor surgery carried out to complete the repairs. We have been providing food and transport for the family. All free of charge Hopefully in a few weeks this little boy will be walking with his friends for the first time in his life.

OUR PARAMEDIC with young girl at the dump who has just had two very young babies and no partner to take care of her
